ACCHS Tigers Win McLouth Volleyball Invitational

A pair of Big Seven League schools and pair of Northeast Kansas League schools took to the court for volleyball action over the weekend as one of the NEKL teams hosted volleyball tournament. McLouth welcomed seven other teams to town for volleyball.

At the end of the day it was the ACCHS Tigers claiming the tournament championship, with Maur Hill-Mount Academy finished second, Perry Lecompton took third and McLouth finished seventh for the area performances. The other team performances were: Veritas Christian placing fourth, Heritage Christian taking fifth, Bishop Seabury finishing sixth and KC Christian placing eighth.

In pool play ACCHS and Maur Hill put themselves ahead of the pack by winning their pools. The Tigers took down McLouth in straight sets 25-12, 25-11, beat Veritas Christian in straight sets 25-13, 25-8 and needed three sets but topped Perry Lecompton 26-24, 22-25, 25-23. Perry Lecompton finished second in the pool by beating Veritas Christian (25-15, 25-10) and McLouth (25-17, 25-16) both in straight sets. Veritas Christian beat McLouth in the other pool play competition using three sets 25-18, 19-25, 25-18.

Maur Hill finished atop the other pool beating Bishop Seabury (25-14, 25-16) and Heritage Christian (25-18, 25-20) both in straight sets and used three sets to top KC Christian (22-25, 25-10, 25-2). Bishop Seabury took second in the pool with wins over Heritage Christian (25-18, 25-20) and KC Christian (24-26, 25-21, 25-15). While, Heritage Christian won the other pool play matchup beating KC Christian in three sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-17).

In the first round of bracket play all four matches were decided by straight set marks. Maur Hill topped McLouth 25-10, 25-12 to move to the Semifinals to face Perry Lecompton who beat Heritage Christian 25-15, 25-19 in the first round of bracket play. ACCHS and Veritas Christian also picked up wins in the first round of bracket play moving on into the Semifinals. The Tigers won 25-10, 25-17 over KC Christian and Vertias Christian beat Bishop Seabury 25-16, 25-23.

Maur Hill needed three sets but topped Perry Lecompton in the Semifinals (17-25, 25-19, 25-12), while ACCHS won in straight sets over Veritas Christian (25-15, 25-21) to set up a Tigers versus Ravens Championship match.

In the consolation semifinals Heritage Christian beat McLouth (25-13, 25-15) and Bishop Seabury beat KC Christian (25-16, 25-19) in straight sets.

The host team McLouth looked to close the tournament with a win and did so beating KC Christian 25-22, 25-21 in the seventh place match. While, Heritage Christian won in straight sets over Bishop Seabury, 25-23, 25-22 to claim fifth place.

Perry Lecompton bounced back from their Semifinal loss to take home third place by beating Veritas Christian in straight sets, 25-16, 25-11.

In the Championship match ACCHS and Maur Hill went into the match unbeaten on the day in the tournament and the Tigers finished the day unbeaten in the tournament and claimed the McLouth Invitational title with a straight set 25-18, 25-14 win over Maur Hill.
