Pleasant Ridge & Perry Lecompton Compete at Basehor-Linwood Track Invite

Pleasant Ridge and Perry Lecompton stepped outside of their leagues and took on other schools in track action on Friday at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational looking to put together strong performances early in the season. 

Ten schools competed on the day and for the Pleasant Ridge Rams they took sixth for the boys and seventh for the girls as teams, while Perry Lecompton finished seventh for the boys and ninth for the girls as teams at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational. 

A trio of first place performances led Pleasant Ridge on the day as three Rams brought home a gold medal. In the boy's competition Gabe Younger out ran the competition in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.71 to take first, while in the girls action Bridget Howard registered a leap of 32'06.50 and Susan Redieck had a toss of 98'06 to win the javelin. 

Four other Top three finishes were earned by Pleasant Ridge on the day as Luke Oatney took second in the 1600 meter run, while Clayton Price earned the silver in the 3200 meter run and Jagar Haack placed second in the javelin. The Ram boys 4x100 meter relay grabbed a bronze in competition. 

For Perry Lecompton it was Cole Kellum leading the Kaws as he won the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.03. Both Lexia Jamison in the girls 800 meter run and the boys 4x400 meter relay team took home second place finishes for the Kaws, while Torin VanNest earned a third place finish in the boys 300 meter hurdles. 

The track season continues for Pleasant Ridge next Thursday, April 14th at the Northern Heights Invitational and for Perry Lecompton in continues next Tuesday, April 12th at home as they host a track Invitational.
