Perry Lecompton & Pleasant Ridge Compete at Wellsville Track Invite

A pair of area teams stepped outside of Northeast Kansas and traveled to Wellsville on Friday to compete in track and field and action as Perry Lecompton and Pleasant Ridge competed against several top competitions. 

Fourteen schools in total were in action on the day and the Perry Lecompton lady Kaws had the best team performance of the area teams taking fifth place as a team, while the lady Rams of Pleasant Ridge finished 12th. In the boys action Pleasant Ridge took ninth and Perry Lecompton finished 12th. The Paola boys and girls each won the team titles on the day at the Wellsville Invitational. 

A pair of first place finishes on the day in the girl's action led Perry Lecompton as Lexia Jamison and Abbi Folks against some top flight competition each won an event. Jamison raced her way to a time of 2:26.89 to claim the gold in the 800 meter run, while Folks leapt past the competition in the triple jump with a leap of 33'07.50 to take first place for the Kaws. 

For Pleasant Ridge it was a pair of second place finishes and three third place showings leading them at the Wellsville Invitational and they all came in the boys competition. Gabe Younger raced his way to second place in the 800 meter run and the 4x100 meter Throwers relay team for the Ram boys earned second place, also. Third place finishes were picked up by Gylnn Smith in the triple jump, Luke Oatney in the 1600 meter run and by the Ram boy's 4x800 meter relay team. 

Both teams are set to continue their track season next week at their respective League meets as Perry Lecompton will compete at the Big Seven League meet and Pleasant Ridge at the Northeast Kansas League meet both on Thursday, May 12th.
