Perry Lecompton & Maur Hill Take Second & Third at McLouth Volleyball Invite

Four area teams along with four others hit the court on Saturday for volleyball action at the McLouth Invitational. 

Leading the way for the area was a second place finish by the Perry Lecompton Kaws who posted a 4-2 record on the day, while Maur Hill-Mount Academy took third with a 5-1 record on the day’s action. Heritage Christian won the tournament, while Veritas Christian took fourth. 

The day started off with pool play action as the teams were split into two four team pools in order to figure out the how the bracket would be set. In the Purple pool it was Heritage Christian winning the pool with a 3-0 performance beating Perry Lecompton, McLouth and Bishop Seabury all in straight sets. Perry Lecompton went 2-1 in the pool for second in pool play with wins over McLouth and Bishop Seabury, while McLouth beat Bishop Searbury for third in the pool. 

In the Gold pool the lady Ravens of Maur Hill notched straight wins over Veritas Christian, ACCHS and KC Christian to go 3-0 in pool play and win the pool. Veritas Christian went 2-1 with wins over ACCHS and KC Christian to place second in the pool and with a win over KC Christian the ACCHS Tigers took third in the pool. 

That set up the bracket play action and in the first round Maur Hill, Perry Lecompton, Heritage Christian and Veritas Christian all picked up wins over Bishop Seabury, ACCHS, KC Christian and McLouth, respectively with all the matches going down in straight sets. 

In the Semifinals, Perry Lecompton upended Maur Hill in three sets, while Heritage Christian took down Veritas Christian in straight sets. The Consolation games saw ACCHS beat Bishop Seabury and McLouth get a win over KC Christian. 

The Championship was snagged by Heritage Christian in straight sets over Perry Lecompton, while Maur Hill fended off Veritas Christian for a three set win and third place at the McLouth Invitational.
