After having their six-match win streak snapped earlier in the week the Highland Scotties volleyball team got back into the win column on Friday night taking on the Ottawa University JV squad.

The Scotties picked up the win three straight sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-12 with Shailey Caudle, Tyrecia Lukes and Leslie Polanco helping lead the way with several kills apiece.

Scotties Improve to 2-1 On the Football Field With Win Over Graceland University JV

After a tough six-point loss on the road in week two the Highland Scotties hit the road again in week three traveling to Lamoni, Iowa to take on Graceland University JV and earned the 52-2 victory.

The day started with a three-and-out for the Scotties defense and a bad snap on the punt led to Highland taking over on the Graceland 28-yard line and taking the initial lead of the game on a six-yard touchdown run by Marquis Terry, but the PAT was blocked and returned by Graceland for two points making it 6-2 with 9:20 left in the first quarter. The defense did the scoring next as Dominique Williams had a pick-six and by the end of the first quarter the Scottie offense visited the endzone two times as Khalil Render hit Demarre Kitt for a 22-yard touchdown and Terry had his second rushing touchdown of the day leading to a 27-2 Highland lead after just one quarter.

After another quick defensive series by Highland it set up another short field and the Scotties had Troy product, Tristan Speer in at quarterback and he found Alex Bott for a 10-yard touchdown to make it 33-2 in the second quarter. Ra'Qaunne Dickens had a big burst run of 75-yards to get another score for Highland to make 39-2 entering halftime.

The second half was much of the same for Highland as the Scotties cruised to the win. Dickens busted another big run this time of 69-yards for a touchdown, while Taymon Grabauskas came in at quarterback and tossed a 27-yard touchdown to Bott for the final score of the game leading Highland to the 52-2 victory.

The win pushes Highland to 2-1 on the season as now turn their attention to the a home contest with Iowa Central Community College on Saturday, September 17th at 1:00pm.
