Atchison Concludes Season, Pirates Prevail
By Tom Kautz

With a 40-19 win Friday night, Piper took a playoff spot from Atchison in front of a large Senior Night crowd at Amelia Earhart Stadium.  AHS came into the final game of the season needing a win to move into post-season play and fell just short.

The Pirates wasted no time.  14 seconds into the game they had their first score as Jj Letcher (yes, that's spelled correctly) took the kickoff back and Piper had set the tone for the game and  Jj had his first of 3 touchdowns.  Letcher averaged over 198 yards per game on the season

The Redmen made a run in the second quarter when Austin Bonnell threw a TD pass  to Bryce Enzbrenner, Austin then blocked a punt which he recovered for another TD and Atchison was within one score at halftime. The final Redmen score came on a 36 yard run by Dylon Leblue in the 4th quarter.

Atchison wraps up the season 6-3 having completed another undefeated run through the KCA League and will graduate 13 student-athletes.
