It's been a strong year on the mats for the Marysville Bulldogs and that continued at the Phillipsburg Panther Classic on Saturday as the wrestling regular season starts to wind down.

The Buldlogs behind 174 total points took the tournament title over 13 other schools winning over Abilene by 22.5 points.

Thirteen out of 14 Marysville wrestlers on the day finished with a Top four performance or better with seven of those performances being second place or better. A 3-0 day with a pair of pinfall wins in 48 seconds and 4:48, along with a 17-2 technical fall win led Jacob Mintzmyer to the lone individual first place finish for the Bulldogs capturing the 170lbs title.

Six guys finished the day with just one loss on the mats and took second place for the Bulldogs. Seth Mooradian (285lbs), Nick Ackerman (195lbs), Jacob Stryker (182lbs), Storm Slupianek (152lbs) and Gabe Capp (138lbs) all registered 2-1 days on the mats, while Jakob Snellings (106lbs) and Joey Bockin (113lbs) both went 3-1 in action.

The trio of Jonny Crome (120lbs), Ethan Crownover (126lbs) and Derek Roever (145lbs) all notched third place finishes at the Panther Classic. Crome recorded a 3-1 day on the mats, while Crownover was 2-2 and Roever went 3-2. A 2-2 day at Phillipsburg earned Garron Champoux a fourth place finish at 160lbs for Marysville.

Marysville continues and wraps up the regular season on Thursday, February 9th at home as they will host a double dual with Sabetha and ACCHS and then turns their attention to Regionals which is set for February 18th.
