Pair of Marysville Senior Wrestlers Help Team Kansas Win Battle of Bad In Oklahoma

After another successful season on the mats taking third place as a team in Class 3-2-1A a pair of Marysville Bulldog senior wrestlers continued hit the mats again competing in the Battle of the Bad for Team Kansas against some of the top senior wrestlers from Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Marysville seniors, Jacob Mintzmyer and Jacob Stryker both competed for Team Kansas. 

The tournament featured teams from each State in a bracket style dual competition with Kansas facing Missouri and Oklahoma facing Arkansas with winners wrestling each other for first place and losers wrestling a dual for third place. Kansas easily topped Missouri winning the dual winning 48-9 winning 10 of the 13 weight class bouts, while Oklahoma beat Arkansas 57-10 in their dual. That set up a showdown between Kansas and Oklahoma and with seven match wins Kansas won the dual 34-23 to take the tournament title. Missouri beat Arkansas 38-21 to take third place as a team.

Both Mintzmyer and Stryker went 1-1 on the dual competitions each snagging their win in the dual with Missouri. Mintzmyer won at 170lbs in the Missouri dual with a pinfall in 5:20 but fell in the Oklahoma dual via a 6-2 decision. Stryker competed at 182lbs and in the dual with Missouri Jacob picked up the match win via pinfall in 1:05, while against Oklahoma he suffered a tough 9-6 decision loss. 

The two Marysville Bulldogs represented their school and State one final time on the mats as part of the Battle of the Bad, representing their school strong after great careers on the mat in high school.
