Marysville Wrestlers Take the Cardinal Classic Title at Hoisington

Marysville Bulldogs once again put forth a dominating performance on the mats this season as they Bulldog grapplers head into the holiday break by winning the Cardinal Classic at Hoisington. 

The fourth ranked Class 4A wrestling team posted 220 total points to win the Cardinal Classic winning by 65 points. Leading the charge for Marysville was 10 wrestlers finishing first or second in their weight classes on the mats in Hoisington. 

Third ranked 4A wrestler at 160lbs, Storm Slupianek helped lead the charge for Marysville as he posted a 5-0 day on the mats winning by pinfall twice (0:40 and 1:06), claiming a major decision win 9-0 and also won by injury default twice. Also ranked in the 4A polls for Marysville is Seth Mooradian at 285lbs and he like Slupianek notched a 5-0 day for first place winning all his matches by pinfall in 25 seconds, 1:42, 2:18, 3:00 and 3:33. Jacob Snellings is also in the latest 4A KWCA rankings for Marysville and he continued his strong start to wrestling season by going 5-0 at 120lbs to take first place claiming victory by pinfall in his first three matches (5:54, 1:27, 5:32) and then finishing the day with 3-0 and 6-3 decision wins. 

Gabe Capp added the other first place finish for Marysville individually as he went 5-0 with pinfall wins recording four of the five victories in less than two minutes. 

Six Bulldog grapplers earned second place at the Cardinal Classic to help Marysville win the team title. At 220lbs Kaleb Parker went 4-1 in action with a pair of pinfall wins and also two wins by decision, while it was a 3-1 day at 195lbs by Ben Dwerlkotte that earned him second place getting three pinfall wins on the day. Ethan Crownover notched a 4-1 day on the mats at 126lbs to take second winning by pinfall in four of his victories, while Isaac Novotny also went 4-1 with three pinfall wins and victory by decision at 106lbs for second place. A 2-1 day for Matthew Schmitz at 113lbs gave him second place as he won by pinfall twice and Jonny Crome went 3-2 to take second at 132lbs. 

Both Derek Roever (152lbs) and Garron Champoux (182lbs) each notched third place performances for Marysville finishing 2-2 and 3-2, respectively on the day. While, Atreyau Hornbeak (170lbs) placed fifth going 2-2 and Brody Lister (138lbs) finished sixth place. 

Marysville will take to the mats again to continue the season after the calendar flips to 2018 as they will compete at the Beatrice Invite on Saturday, January 6th.
