Marysville Wrestlers Take Second at Beloit Invite

Marysville wrestling is once again putting together a strong wrestling season and it continued recently with a second place team finish at the Beloit Invite. 

The Bulldogs wrestlers earned second place out of 21 schools in competition finishing only seven points behind Blue Valley Southwest who took first place. Seven top six finishes led the way for Marysville at the tournament. 

It was 3-1 showings by Garron Champoux (182lbs), Storm Slupianek (160lbs) and Gabe Capp (145lbs) that earned all three of them second place at the Beloit Invite. Champoux picked up his three wins all by pinfall in 28 and 51 seconds and 1:14, while falling in the Championship bout by a tough 8-7 decision. Slupianek recorded a pair of pinfall wins in 1:00 and 3:29, while also winning by a 5-1 decision but fell in the Championship bout by a 5-0 decision. For Capp it was wins by technical fall 18-3, a major decision win 11-2 and pinfall win in 1:46, but fell in the Championship bout by pinfall. 

Going 4-1 at 285lbs earned Seth Mooradian third place on the day as he registered a pair of pinfall wins in 1:37 and 1:04 and also won by TB 6-1 and UTB 3-2. A 3-2 day on the mats at 132lbs earned Jonny Crome fourth place, while Jakob Snellings took fifth at 120lbs going 2-2. Ethan Crownover went 3-3 in action earning sixth place at 126lbs.

Plenty of other grapplers were in action for Marysville as Isaac Novotny (106lbs) and Noah Ackerman (152lbs), Atreyau Hornbeak (170lbs) and Kaleb Parker (220lbs) each went 2-2 on the mats. While Matthew Schmitz (113lbs) and Ben Dwerlkotte (195lbs) each went 1-2 and Keegan Caudillo (138lbs) was also in action. 

The season continues for Marysville at the Riley County Triangular on Tuesday, January 23rd.
