The 3A Softball Regionals at Marysville took off today. The Marysville Bulldogs and Troy Trojans took each other on in the first round. Marysville was the fourth seed, and Troy represented the fifth. However, despite the close-seeded match-up, the Marysville Bulldogs put in quick work to take an early lead and get the win 13-3.
The game started with three straight strikeouts delivered by Lindsey Dressman from Marysville to retire the side at the top of the first. Marysville would then pile six runs off six hits in the bottom of the first, with two home run bombs as well in the inning. Sara Nemec had a two-run home run shot, and Gracyn Ketter recorded a three-run home run shot.
Troy would get their first hit of the game off a short, sharp bunt from Gracie Grable to lead off the second, but the Troy senior would be stranded in the second with three straight outs to follow after her at bat. Troy would shut out Marysville in the bottom of the inning, leaving two on base.
The Trojans would go scoreless through the third with another side retired, and Marysville would continue to extend their lead by four more runs off four hits in the third. Troy would finally score in the fourth inning with the first run coming through from Olivia Thomas, who led off the inning with a double. Gracie Grable and Jaya Weisshar would both reach off singles and score in the inning as well for the Trojans.
The game ended after five innings with Marysville getting their last required run needed for the ten after five rule in the bottom of the fifth.
Unofficially, the Trojans finished with three runs, four hits, two errors, and two left on base. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs finished the game with thirteen runs, fifteen hits, three errors, and eight left on base.
