The Onaga softball team had their season come to an end on Thursday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Leon-Bluestem in the first round of the 2-1A State Tournament in Pratt.

The Lions (21-3) got their first run of the game in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Lola Guy.

They would double that up to 2-0 in the fifth inning as Samiya Worrell got on with a double and then would come around to score on a throwing error.

The Buffaloes (21-8) couldn't get much going off Lions starting pitcher Pilar Cox as they could only muster up three total hits.

Cox pitched all seven innings for the Lions with 13 strikeouts and no walks.

Bridgett Campbell pitched five innings for Onaga allowing three hits with five strikeouts. Willow Hochstedler pitched one inning in relief and retired all three batters she faced in the sixth inning.

The Buffaloes won their second straight regional title this season and have been in the state tournament in each of the last two seasons as they finished third place in 2024.
