The Troy girls basketball team won their fifth straight game on Friday night defeating Riverside at home in league play 52-36.
The Trojans were led by Harper Whetstine with 27 points and seven rebounds. She was 9-for-10 at the free throw line and she knocked down three shots from the outside.
In Troy's win earlier in the week against Pleasant Ridge, Whetstine became Troy's all-time leading scorer and after her 27 points against Riverside, sits at 1,822 career points.
Alyson Grable chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds while Hailey Groff finished with seven points.
Riverside was led in the loss by Tori Ortega as she finished with 13 points and four rebounds off the bench while Kayahna Hewins and Trinity Jackson each chipped in with six points.
With the win, Troy improved to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in league play to keep their NEKL title hopes alive. With the loss, Riverside dropped to 13-8 overall and 7-2 in league play.
Both teams will wrap up their regular seasons next week with Troy having two league road games with Oskaloosa on Tuesday and Horton on Friday. Riverside will wrap up their regular season next week with their final league game at Pleasant Ridge on Tuesday followed by a non-league game Friday at Hiawatha.
