The Frankfort Wildcats (8th seed) hosted the Centralia Panthers (9th seed) in a Class 1A Division I substate quarterfinal matchup.
Frankfort opened the scoring a minute into the game on a bucket by Fred Rosequist. The teams were tied five times in the first quarter, but the Wildcats took a 14–11 lead into the second. Rosequist had a strong start, tallying eight points and four rebounds in the opening period.
The Wildcats outscored the Panthers 19–16 in the second quarter. Frankfort went 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Porter Colvin, two three-pointers from Wes Anderson, and another from Kyler Parthemer. Frankfort carried a 33–27 lead into halftime.
Centralia responded by outscoring Frankfort 12–10 in the third quarter. Quinton Alderfer caught fire, scoring seven of his team’s points in the period.
The Panthers took control in the fourth quarter, building a seven-point lead with under two minutes remaining. Trailing 58–55 with five seconds left, Frankfort grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw to set up one final chance. Alderfer attempted a half-court three and was fouled with one second remaining. With 21 points already on the night and the game on the line, Anderson calmly sank all three free throws to force overtime at 58–58.
Frankfort struck first in overtime with a three-pointer from Anderson, but Centralia battled back and stretched its lead to seven with just 60 seconds remaining. Degan Ronnebaum sealed the win with a steal, as the Panthers secured a 73–65 victory.
Alderfer finished with 31 points, shooting 16-of-22 from the free-throw line, along with seven rebounds, three steals, and a three-pointer. Bronx Talley added 13 points, including two threes. Isaac Reinecke contributed 14 points, and Aiden Talley chipped in 10 points while going 8-of-9 from the line.
Frankfort was led by Anderson’s 27 points, which included five three-pointers. Rosequist recorded the game’s only double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. It marked the end of an impressive era for the Wildcats’ seniors, including starter Porter Colvin, who finished with seven points and two threes.
Centralia will travel to face Olpe on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
