Hiawatha's Adison Williams surpassed 2,000 career assists this week in the regional tournament in which the Redhawks finished runner-up and advanced to sub-state later in the week.
Adison entered her senior season needing 637 assists to reach the 2k mark and she was able to hit that mark on the last play of the first match of regional's against Pleasant Ridge.
Adison as a freshman saw the court enough to get 17 assists. She arrived as a sophomore ready to lead the offense and totaled 722 assists that season. This also helped her gain some recognition throughout the league, and she was an all-league selection that year.
As a junior in 2024, she saw a drop in the number of assists without Abby Elffner receiving those sets, but the Redhawks still had some good and smart hitters, and they helped Adison total 624 assists.
Adison now sits right at 653 for this season and 2,016 assists for her high school career. The Redhawks head to Holton this weekend for the sub-state tournament in which they will play Holton in the semifinals.
