Nemaha Central's Lexi Lueger Was Looking for Breakout Senior Season
Lexi Lueger

The 2020 high school spring sports season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak and because of that we at the MSC Sports Radio Network have decided to salute area athletes that were expected to be the top returners in their respective sports.

For Nemaha Central senior Lexi Lueger, the cancellation of the spring sports season means she misses out on her final shot on the softball field after helping lead the Thunder to an 11-8 record last season.

Lueger was great all season long for the Thunder offensively finishing with a .328 batting average, .442 on-base percentage, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored.

She was just as solid in the center circle for the Thunder finishing with just a 3.71 earned run average in 37.2 innings to end with a 4-3 record and 39 strikeouts compared to 29 walks.

From her shortstop position Lueger was solid as well, finishing with an .851 fielding percentage making just 11 errors in 74 chances

Her performance on the infield earned her a first-team all-Big 7 League selection as an infielder after being named an honorable mention selection as a sophomore.

Unfortunately for Lueger she won’t get to live our her senior campaign but we would like to salute her for her efforts in her time in Seneca.
