Hanover Boys Basketball

The Hanover boys basketball team captured the 1A-II State Title defeating league rival Axtell in the Championship this past weekend 66-60 in Emporia.
The win for the Wildcats avenged their only loss of the season to Axtell which gave the Eagles the regular season TVL title. Hanover finished their campaign with an overall record of 28-1. The Wildcats started 16-0 before the lone loss to Axtell and finished it off with 12 consecutive wins.
In the semifinal win against Lebo, 10 players scored in the game for Hanover with Tanner Bruna leading the way with 23 points and eight rebounds. Cooper Bruna added 21 points while Braylon Meyn finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nine points each from Braden Jueneman and Wyatt Simpson while they got eight points from Jack Bruna. Hanover hit 39-of-64 shots in the game which is good for nearly 61%.
In the championship game against Axtell, Hanover trailed by two going into the fourth quarter but outscored the Eagles in the final eight minutes 22-14. They also trailed Axtell 21-10 at the end of the first quarter. Cooper Bruna led the Wildcats with 22 points while Braylon Meyn finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Bruna added 14 points and six rebounds. Wildcats won the title game despite Axtell leading the game for more than 25 minutes.
