Nebraska football player Sean Fisher and track athlete Katelyn White have been chosen as the 2013 Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award recipients by the Indianapolis Big Ten Community Partnership.
The league announced Monday that Fisher and White will receive $10,000 scholarships. The award recognizes one male and one female Big Ten senior pursuing a postgraduate degree for achievements in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and leadership. The award is named for the Big Ten commissioner from 1971-89.
White and Fisher have 4.0 grade-point averages. White is completing a nutrition science degree and plans to become a physical therapist. Fisher is finishing his business degree and plans to go to medical school.
This is the first time in six years the Duke awards have gone to athletes from the same school.
