Horton & Maur Hill Highlight Horton Golf Invitational

It was a blustery today but that didn't deter four area schools and three others from meeting up for some golf competition as Horton hosted a seven team Invitational.

Immaculata, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Atchison were the three other area schools participating, while St. Mary's, Silver Lake and Rossville.

The Chargers of Hortona and Ravens of Maur Hill highlighted the day for the area teams with multiple top finishes.

For the Ravens they took home a first place finish in the 2-man team competition has Brock Hanf and Evan Wheeler both shot a 40 to combine for an 80 win win the 2-man crown. While, Hanf and Wheeler won the 2-man crown they finished third and first, respectively in individual competition on the day. Ravens also took home a second place finish in the 6-man competition with a 290, only five strokes back of first place, Silver Lake.

Horton, the host school perhaps the second best day of the four area schools tallying a second place finish in the 2-man competition and fourth in the 6-man total. MaKennzi Knudson and Jack Howard both shot a 43 on the day to tallying an 86 good for second as a 2-man team and good for fourth and sixth, respectively in individual finishes. Chargers as a 6-man team posted a 301 to take fourth of the seven schools participating in the tournament.

For the Atchision Redmen, their day was highlighted by a 43 by Gabe Julo who finished fifth place, while the Redmen's 4-man team tallied a mark of 199 good for a third place finish.

The team capturing the 4-man and 6-man team titles at the Horton Invitational was Silver Lake.
