While it took extra innings in a couple of the games, the Peru State Bobcat baseball team got out their brooms as they swept the home-standing Avila University Eagles over the weekend.
The 'Cats won 4-2 and 2-1 on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, Peru State won 3-2 in eight innings and 7-5 in nine innings. With the four wins, the Bobcats improved to 19-15 overall and 12-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), good for third in the Western Division, and fifth overall. Avila fell to 18-19 and 8-10 in the HAAC. The Eagles are fourth in the same division as Peru State and seventh overall.
