FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gulf Coast has a new basketball coach.
The school announced Wednesday that they've hired Joe Dooley, an assistant coach at the University of Kansas.
Dooley is replacing Andy Enfield, who left earlier this month to take a head coaching job at Southern California. Enfield recently grabbed national attention by taking the first No. 15 seed to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament. The Eagles upset No. 2 seed Georgetown and No. 7 seed San Diego State before losing to Florida.
Dooley has spent the last 10 seasons as an assistant at Kansas under head coach Bill Self. In that time, Kansas produced 300 wins, nine straight Big 12 regular season titles and six Big 12 Tournament championships. They've appeared in six NCAA Sweet 16s, five Elite Eights and two Final Fours. They won the tournament in 2008.
