Riverside Boys and Girls Wins Home Track Meet

Earlier this week the Riverside Cyclones played host to nine other schools from Kansas and Missouri as the teams braved the colder weather to face off against each other in track and field competitions.

It was the Cyclones whirlwinding themselves to victory on both the girls and boys side of competition. For the girls Riverside amassed 141 points, which topped second place on the day by 28. Riverside boys put up 173 total points, outdoing the second place team by 56 points on the days action.

The girls on the day were lead by five field event titles and two running event first place finishes. In the field competitions it was Kiera Juhl, Bailey Munger, Andi Meng, Mercedes Christman and Emily Richter grabbing the Riverside first place finishes. For, Juhl she captured the discus throw title behind a toss of 82-7.5, while Meng tossed her way to a win in the javelin throw with a throw of 84-9. Christman took home the pole vault title (5-6) and Richter leapt to a win in the triple jump (30-9.75).

In the running competitions it was Allie Simonin grabbing a gold and the Riverside 4x100 meter relay team, too. Simonin took home the 300 meter hurdles behind a time of 51.71, while the 4x100 team posted a time of 53.60 to grab their first place finish.

On the boys side it was multiple first place finishes for three Cyclone individuals and three relay wins, also.

Cyclone boys like the girls were lead by wins in the field events with Dillon Logston, Dakota Pummell and Cody Walker all winning two gold all in field events. Logston vaulted his way to a win in the pole vault (11-0) while leaping to the tune of 5-10 to win the high jump crown. Pummell leapt his way to two wins one in the triple jump (40-10.25) and the other in the long jump (19-6.5). For, Walker it was tosses of 141-3 and 30-5 that gave him gold medals in the javelin and shot put, repsectively.

Riverside dominated the relay competitions winning three of the five on the day on the boys side of competition taking the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 titles. Cyclones registered times of 48.56, 3:50.24 and 9:37.37, respectively to win the events. Cyclones also took home the 300 meter hurdles title behind the running of Andrae McGaughy who posted a time of 43.99 to win event.

On the day Riverside took home a multitude of great finishes at their home meet.
