Members of the Highland Community College women’s track team, coach by Tom Bond, traveled to Hutchinson, KS for the NJCAA Division 1 track and field national championship from May 16-18. Iowa Central finished 1st with 143 points, South Plains finished 2nd with 133 points, and Central Arizona finished 3rd with 76 points. Overall, Highland Community College finished 29th.
Leading the women was Rebecca Hasenkamp with an 8th place finish. Rebecca threw her best throw of the season at 36.30 meters. She also earned coaches association All-American.
Jasmine Miller finished in 10th place in the 400 hurdles running a career best time of 64.63. She broke the school record that was previously set by Nikki Lewis in 2012 with a time of 66.12. Miller also placed 13th in the 100 hurdles.
Hannah Olson placed 14th in the 3000 meter steeple chase. Olson set a school record in this event during the school season with a time of 12:28.78. In 2009, the record was set by Sammy Waldren with a time of 12:41.55.
