In golf, Southeast Community College was tied for 6th heading into the final round of the NJCAA Division Two National Tournament in Scottsboro, Alabama. The Storm had a cumulative score of 887 through three rounds, tied with two other teams at 23 over par.
Through three rounds, HTRS graduate Calvin Freeman was tied for 8th in the individual standings, at 3 under par 213, after rounds of 70, 73, and 70.
The leader, Steve Souchek of John A. Logan College, is at 8-under par through three rounds. South Mountain Community College of Arizona is the team leader. The final round of the tournament is today.
Peru State senior, and HTRS graduate, Jordan Schaardt did not advance to the final round of the NAIA Women’s National Championship, despite shooting near her average.
Schaardt finished with a total of 254 after three rounds, with scores of 82, 87, and 85 on the Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln. She finished tied for 99th place out of 144 golfers.
Schaardt is the first Peru State golfer to participate in the NAIA National Championship.
The tournament concludes Friday.
