Falls City Sacred Heart Wins Axtell Volleyball Invite

In a tournament that featured four Nebraska schools, three Twin Valley league Kansas schools and another Kansas school from Topeka, it was the Falls City Sacred Heart Irish coming away with the Axtell Invitational volleyball crown going 4-1 in the tournament.

It was a battle of Nebraska schools in the championship game with Falls City SC beating Pawnee City in straight sets 25-23, 25-13. But it wasn't easy for those two teams to get to the championship game as they each faced off against a team from the Twin Valley league. Fall City SC took on the Wildcats of Frankfort and it was a highly contested three set match with the Wildcats taking set one 25-21 but the Irish answered with the next two 25-15, 25-13. For Pawnee City their opponent in the semifinals was the host school the Axtell Eagles, this match like the other semifinal went three sets. Axtell took set one 25-14, but Pawnee responded with the next two 25-23, 25-13.

Axtell and Frankfort went on to place in the third place game were the Eagles came away with a three set win. Eagles took set one 25-17; Frankfort then took set number two 25-20 with Axtell winning the third set and match with a 25-20 final set.

Falls City SC finished the tournament 4-1 and tournament champions, while Pawnee City too finished the tourney 4-1 losing to Falls City SC in the championship game. The Axtell Eagles finished 3-2 at the tournament placing third with Frankfort finishing fourth with a 2-3 record.

Diller-Odell, Cair-Paravel, Lewiston and Blue Valley also competed in the Axtell invite finishing fifth through eighth, respectively. Diller-Odell went 3-2 overall in the tournament, Cair-Paravel, Lewiston and Blue Valley all finished the tournament 1-4.
