On Saturday (October 5th) Silver Lake played host to a volleyball invitational and of the eight teams to compete in the action five hailed from the Kanzaland area; four from the Big Seven League and one from the Twin Valley League.

At the end of the day it was the TVL team highlighting the area teams performances taking their third second place finish in tournament action this year the Centralia Panthers finished the day 4-1 falling to Silver Lake in the championship match (25-12, 25-14). Panthers breezed past the competition in pool play with straight set wins over Sabetha, St. Mary's and Perry Lecompton, then dispatched Jeff West in three sets in the semifinals, to compete for the tourney title.

The Tigers of Jeff West who lost to Centralia in semifinals capped off their day with a win taking care of St. Mary's in straight sets, 25-12, 25-17 to take home a 3-2 record and third place finish on the day. In pool play the Tigers registered wins against Royal Valley in three sets and Rossville in straight sets, while losing to Silver Lake in their other match.

Rounding out the team places on the day at the Silver Lake Invite was Sabetha taking home fifth with a three set (23-25, 25-15, 26-24) win over Royal Valley in the fifth place match. The Bluejays finished 2-2 in action with their lone other win coming against Perry Lecompton in pool play. The Panthers finished 1-3 at the Silver Lake Invite beating Rossville in straight sets for their lone win.

In the seventh place match it was Perry Lecompton getting the best of Rossville in three sets (25-20, 25-27, 25-23) for their lone win on the day finishing 1-3 in action.

Teams now turn their attention back to league play this coming week and league tournaments on the horizon before sub-state in the coming weeks.
