Latest KBCA Released with 18 Area Teams in the Rankings -- Feb. 2nd

As the high school basketball season hits the final month of the regular season teams are looking to hit their stride to set themselves up for postseason play. The latest KBCA rankings have been released and 18 area teams find themselves in the latest rankings.

Class 4A-Division II 

Holton Wildcats boys and girls squads continue to be ranked on the season as the each remained ranked in the same spot as the previous week after being idle. Holton boys sit a 7-4 on the season and ranked sixth in the poll, while the girls are 6-6 on the season and ranked tenth in the polls.

Santa Fe Trail Charger girls also remained steadfast in their spot in the polls checking in at number two again this week as they sit at 11-2 on the season after going 2-0 last week beating Osage City and Silver Lake.

The Royal Valley Panther boys continue to be ranked this week falling one spot to number eight this week after falling back to .500 on the season with a loss to Silver Lake last week.

Class 3A

Three area teams continue to be ranked between the boys and girls polls in Class 3A but this week its a different girls team with the same two boys squads remaining ranked in the same spot as the previous week.

Sabetha Bluejay boys continued to roll past opponents beating Wamego in a non-league showdown fresh off their Burlington Invitational win, improving to 13-0 on the season with the win. Bluejays remained ranked third in latest KBCA rankings.

Nemaha Valley Raiders also remained in the same spot in the rankings this week as they have for the past few weeks checking in at number seven. Raiders sit at 12-1 on the season fresh off a win over Horton last week and a Raider Classic championship.

In the girls poll the Marysville Bulldogs jump back into the Top 10 this week at number 10 with a 10-2 record on the season and play for the Hiawatha Invitational crown against Nemaha Valley, Monday night after beating Riverside and Falls City in the tournament.

Class 2A

The Jefferson County North lady Chargers continued to post win’s this season winning their home Invitational on Saturday with wins over Oskaloosa, Perry Lecompton and ACCHS to remain unbeaten on the year sitting at 12-0. That 12-0 mark as the lady Chargers in the number one spot in the latest polls.

Washington County Tigers suffered their first loss of the season in the TVL tournament championship and fell to number eight in last week's poll, but this week the Tigers have jumped up three spots to number five after an idle week. Tigers were scheduled to take on Doniphan West but the game was postponed due to weather.

On the boys side the Valley Falls Dragons continue to move up the 2A rankings jumping up one spot this week to number five. Dragons last played back on January 25th when they took home the McLouth Invitational crown with a win over McLouth.

Class 1A-Division I 

Five Twin Valley League teams continue to remain ranked in the Class 1A-DI polls but there was shake up with the spots in the polls for the area teams.

On the girls side the Valley Heights Mustangs remained ranked second after notching TVL wins over Frankfort and Linn last week to continue their momentum from winning the TVL tournament, improving to 13-1 on the season. Linn lady Bulldogs moved back up one spot moving up to number eight with a 9-4 record, but suffered a loss to Valley Heights last week.

In the boys poll the Hanover Wildcats stayed put at number two in the latest polls sitting at 11-3 on the season after a road win over Onaga last week. The Valley Heights Mustangs picked up wins over Linn and Frankfort last week to improve to 12-2 on the season and jump up one spot to number four this week. While Centralia suffered their fourth loss of the season last week falling to B&B on the road and moving to 9-4 on the season, pushing them down to sixth in the latest KBCA poll.

Class 1A-Division II 

It was an uptick in the polls on the boys side in Class 1A-DII for a pair of TVL teams in Axtell and B&B as they moved up to number five and six respectively in the latest poll. Axtell was idle last week after their game against Hanover was postponed due to weather and the Eagles area 9-5 on the season. The B&B Falcons notched a pair of wins last week by beating Blue Valley-Randolph on the road and topping Centralia in a battle at home to move to 9-5 on the season.

The B&B lady Falcons continued to play well on the season moving to 12-2 on the season with wins over Blue Valley-Randolph and Centralia last week after taking third at the TVL tournament. The Falcons continued to be ranked number one in the latest polls.
