Sacred Heart boys, Pawnee City girls, Claim Pioneer Conference Indoor Track Titles

(KTNC) --  The Pioneer Conference Indoor Track Meet was held Thursday at Doane College in Crete.
 Falls City Sacred Heart was the boys’ team champion, with 129 points. Sterling was 2nd with 101 points and Pawnee City was 3rd with 78 points. HTRS and Southern tied for 6th place; Johnson-Brock and Lewiston tied for 9th.
 Individual highlights include a new Sacred Heart school record in the Triple Jump. Austin Malone broke the record set by Tim Hoy 40 years ago with a distance of 44-feet, 7.25-inches. The new record eclipsed the old record by 4.25-inches.
 Sacred Heart also got first place finishes from Yianni Haralabidis in the 60 and 200-meter dashes, Henry Arnold in the 400-meter dash, Sawyer Kean in the long jump, and the 4-by-400 meter relay team of Haralabidis, Malone, Arnold, and Chaz Dunn.
 Trey Trauernicht of Sterling won the 800 and 1600 meter runs, Alex Menninga of Pawnee City was first in the 3200-meter run, Cory Kettlehake of Pawnee City won the pole vault, and Scott Borcher of Pawnee City won the shot put, with a distance of 55-feet, 4-inches.

 Pawnee City was the girls’ team champion with 96 points. Friend was second with 76 points, followed by Sterling in 3rd place, Southern, Johnson-Brock, Sacred Heart 6th with 40.5 points, Diller-Odell 7th, Lourdes Central 8th, and HTRS 9th.
 Individually, Mariah Willey of Pawnee City won the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, and long jump. The Indians also got first place finishes from Shelby Hundley in the 400-meter dash and Jenna Habegger in the shot put.
 Sacred Heart’s Maggie Goltz won the triple jump, Taylor Cockerill of Sterling won the high jump, and Sterling won the 4-by-800 relay.
