Maur Hill Boys & Girls Claim D-West Track Relays Titles, While D-West Boys & Girls Take Second

It was the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens claim the top spots on Tuesday in the Doniphan West Track Relays competing with five other area teams and two more schools, also.

Both the Maur Hill boys and girls claimed first place team performances; the girls won by 17 points, while the boys grab the win 65 points. The host Doniphan West Mustangs followed Maur Hill in the team standings on the day as both the girls and boys took second place as teams. St. Joseph Christian boys rounded out the top three boys teams, while Centralia girls took third as a team.

The rest of the boys team finishes were: 4th - Wetmore, 5th - Troy, 6th - Centralia, 7th - Horton and 8th Veritas Christian. While the rest of the girls team finishes were: 4th - St. Joseph Christian, 5th - Horton, 6th - Troy, 7th - Wetmore and 8th - Veritas Christian.

Maur Hill on the way to their first place team performances earned 11 first place performances between the boys and girls competitions on the day. Both Josh and Nick Caudle each claimed a pair of gold medal finishes on the day. Josh won both the 100 meter dash (11.56) and the long jump (18'03.50), while Nick captured the high jump (5'08) and triple jump (40'05). The Ravens boys relay teams won a pair of gold’s too as Maur Hill won both the 4x100 (45.59) and 4x400 meter relays. Adam Wagner and Nathaniel Curry each added a first place for the Ravens boys track team by winning the 200 meter dash (23.18) and the 400 meter dash (54.17), respectively. For the Maur Hill girls Avery Lewman, Kassie Johnson and the 4x100 meter relay team each won gold medals. Lewman captured first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:49.71, while Johnson ran her way to the win in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.80. The lady Ravens 4x100 team posted a time of 55.90 to win that event on the day.

The host Doniphan West Mustangs had the second most first place showings on the day with eight between the boys and girls on their way to second place team performances. Kody Collins, Kenzie Blevins and MacKenzie Boos each were multi-event winners for the Mustangs on the day. Collins won the only gold’s for the Mustang boys by sweeping the hurdles winning the 110 and 300 meters with times of 16.23 and 45.59. While Blevins leapt her way to wins in the long jump and triple jump behind jumps of 16'07.875 and 34'05.06, respectively. Boos claimed both the 1600 and 3200 meter run titles posting times of 6:18 and 13:48. Peyton Leach and Alyssa Clark each also earned a first place finish on the day for the Mustangs winning the high jump (4'09) and javelin (99'11), respectively.

Both Wetmore and Centralia walked away from the competition with four first place showings at the meet, while Horton had three.

The Cardinals grabbed first in the boy’s 4x800 meter relay and the boys 1600 meter run, as well as the girls 200 meter dash. Wetmore's 4x800 team posted a time of 9:03 to earn the win, while Aaron Achten won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:03. Mari Vienna claimed the girl’s 200 meter dash title for Wetmore posting a time of 28.83.

Centralia on the day earned a pair of first place performances by both the girls and boys at the D-West Relays. On the boys side Stephan Leblanc and Peyton Bowers won the javelin (124'10) and pole vault (9'03), respectively. While in the girls competition the Panthers 4x400 meter relay team won and Breanna Hasenkamp vaulted her way to the pole vault win (7'03).

Horton on the day saw Carrisa Lowe earn a pair first place finishes and Trey Dishon also claim a first place finish, too. Lowe tossed her way to wins in both the discus and shot put with tosses of 83'00.50 and 31'01, while Dishon also tossed his way to a win his coming in the shot put with a toss of 48'06.75.
