NAIA Award for Johnson-Brock Graduate Wolken

Doane College sophomore Kale Wolken has been named the NAIA Men's Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Week. 

Wolken, a sophomore from Tecumseh, Neb., and a Johnson-Brock High School graduate,  posted the NAIA’s top mark in the decathlon, while also setting a school record in the event, at the Doane Relays on April 19 in Crete, Neb. Wolken’s 7,204 points bested the 16-man field and surpassed the previous school record of 7,195 set by 2013 NAIA champion Rob Keeney. To achieve the score, Wolken posted the fastest time or top mark in 8-of-10 events including the 100 meters (11.21), 400 meters, (49.98), 110 meter hurdles (15.32), high jump (1.93 meters, 6.33 feet), long jump (7.14 meters, 23.43 feet), shot put (12.47 meters, 40.91 feet), discus throw (35.95 meters, 111.38 feet) and javelin throw (55.35 meters, 181.59 feet). Wolken finished second in the pole vault (4.57 meters, 14.99) and fourth in the 1,500 meters (5:08.93). Doane will host the 2014 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship on May 2-3.
