Falls City, Auburn, Compete at Platteview Track Meet

(KTNC) -  Falls City and Auburn track teams participated in the Platteview Invitational Thursday.

 The Auburn girls finished 3rd, behind team champion Platteview and 2nd place Plattsmouth, with 66.5 points. Falls City had 20 points for a 9th place finish.

 Gretna was the boys’ team champion with 124.3 points. Falls City finished in a 5th place tie with Omaha Gross with 36 points. Auburn was close behind in 8th place with 30 points.

 Individually, the Auburn girls had three first place finishes. Melissa Davison won the 3200-meter run, and was 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 800-meter run. Julie Slama won the triple jump and Taylor Peterson won the pole vault.

 Slama also placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles, and Maggie Rieschick was 3rd in the 400-meter dash.

 Falls City’s top finish was a 2nd place by Krystal Samqua in the pole vault. The Tigers’ Lindsey Duerfeldt was 4th in that event, and Lainey Larson was 6th in the 3200-meter run. Falls City was 4th in the 400 and 800-meter relays.

 Auburn finished 4th in the 1600-meter relay and 6th in the 400-meter relay.

 On the boys’ side, Falls City’s Lee Huettner won the long jump and was second in the triple jump. Mitchell Harling was 3rd in the triple jump, and Zach Jordening placed 4th in the high jump.

 Falls City also picked up points with a 3rd place finish in the 3200-meter relay and 6th place finishes in both the 400 and 1600-meter relays.

 Auburn’s Dakota Groves won the triple jump and Quentin Boden placed 4th in both the shot put and discus. Reason Garcia was 5th in the 100-meter dash and 4th in the long jump, Groves was 6th in the 3200-meter run, and Jonathan Hannaford finished 6th in the 300-meter hurdles.
