JCN Girls & Riverside Boys Claim Rossville Track Invite Titles

Thirteen schools competed against each other last Friday in track action at the Rossville Invitational with five area schools competing as part of those 13 teams and two of them coming out on top as the best team on the day.

The Jefferson County North Charger girls and Riverside Cyclone boys each won team titles, as the Chargers won by 42 points, while Riverside won by 22 points.

After JCN on the girls side the four other area teams finished sixth, seventh, ninth and tenth. Valley Falls took home sixth place, followed by Riverside in seventh, Oskaloosa placed ninth and Horton finished tenth. On the boys side after Riverside the other four area teams claimed seventh, ninth, tenth and twelfth finishes. Valley Falls boys took home seventh place, JCN placed ninth, Oskaloosa claimed tenth and Horton finished twelfth.

The JCN girls on their way to a first place finish were paced with seven first place finishes on the day with Laramie Leakey leading the charge by winning the 800 meter run (2:44.05) and the pole vault (10'0). The lady Chargers took three more track events and two more field event titles on the day. Chargers charged to wins in the 4x100 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 52.43 and 11:14.50, while Jamie Navinskey won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.26. On the field Heather Polson and Jacee Kramer won the high jump (5'02) and javelin (105'06), respectively. For the boys, Luke Pyle highlighted the day winning the javelin throw with a toss of 170'03.

Riverside Cyclone boys whirled their way to first place as a team behind one individual first place and eight more top three finishes. Mason McCall lead the Cyclones charge to first place as he won the 300 meter hurdles posting a time of 45.93 to win gold. Riverside girls were led by a trio of third place finishes by Emily Richter in the triple jump, Chandler Barger in the long jump and the 4x100 relay team.

Valley Falls on the day registered one first place finish as the boys 4x100 meter relay team posted a time of 46.15 to claim the gold, while Emily Nottingham led the girl’s performances for the Dragons with a pair of second place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Oskaloosa had a second and third place finish on the day lead them on the boys and girls side as Dillon Grother took second in the 110 meter hurdles and Maddy Miller placed third in the discus.

Horton was highlighted by a second place showing by Trey Dishon in the discus on the boy’s side and second place in the girl’s discus by Carrisa Lowe at the Rossville Invitational.
