The 2014 Kansas State Track and Field Championships wrapped up and multiple State titles, medals and team State Championships were claimed by listening area athletes.
In Class 4A, 20 medals were earned by area athletes including two State titles, one 3rd place, three 4th places, two 5th places, five 6th places, four 7th places and three 8th places. Best team performance was Perry Lecompton boys who finished 8th as a team.
Class 3A had 40 area medals earned with four State titles, seven 2nd places, five 3rd places, five 4th places, four 5th places, five 6th places, six 7th places and six 8th places. The Hiawatha girls finished third as a team as the best area team performance.
Class 2A had 26 area medals earned with seven State titles, one 2nd place, two 3rd places, three 4th places, three 4th places, three 5th places, four 6th places, two 7th places, four 8th places. Top area team performance was Washington County boys who placed second, while the Jefferson Coutny North girls placed 8th as a team.
Class 1A was were some of the best performances came from as 67 area medals were earned including 10 State titles, 10 2nd places, 12 3rd places, five 4th places, 14 5th places, four 6th places, four 7th places and eight 8th places. Both the Valley Heights girls and Centralia boys won Class 1A team State titles. While on the boys side Hanover took third, Valley Heights fifth and Linn seventh, also as a teams.
