The move to 3A was never going to be an easy thing and the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers don't look for the easy path they go out an work for everything but on Friday they faced a tough task in the #2 3A school in Rossville and it was the Bulldogs claiming the 42-6 win to end the Panthers 18-game winning streak.

Game started off with both defense's coming up big forcing three-and-outs and styming anything the opposing offensives threw at them. But the Panthers broke through first in the game with about 4:32 left in the first quarter, quarterback, Wyatt VanDorn busted off a 59-yard touchdown run, but the two-point conversion was unsuccessful.

After that it was all Rossville as the Bulldogs hit a big play of their own as quarterback, Tucker Horak hooked up with Christian Roduner for a 45-yard touchdown and with the PAT, Rossville led 7-6 with 2:34 left to go in the first quarter. The Bulldogs added another score with 45 seconds left in the first quarter as Rossville got a short field after a Centralia-Wetmore fumble, the second Panther turnover of the game, as Tucker Horak posted a five-yard touchdown run, making it 14-6 with the PAT.

The Bulldogs continue to compile points, yards and some big plays against the Panthers in the second quarter with three more touchdowns to lead 35-6 at the half and ultimately grab the 42-6 win.

Centralia-Wetmore tired their best in the second half to get things rolling but could never find a groove on offense as Rossville stymied the Panthers play calls. On defense the Panthers did force a pair of turnovers, as VanDorn picked off a Horak pass and Derek Mueting recovered a fumble, forced by Trevor Mars. But the Panthers offense only finished with 242 total yards of offense, all coming from the ground game. VanDorn finished with 106 yards rushing on 17 carries with a touchdown and Darrian Turner finished with just 87 yards on 20 carries.

Rossville finished the night with over 500 yards of total offense as Horak tallied 219 yards on the ground with three touchdowns and 206 yards in the air with a pair of touchdowns, helping Rossville remain unbeaten at 6-0.

The loss snapped the Panthers 18-game winning streak and puts them at 5-1 on the season headed into District play next Friday, as they travel to Seneca for a matchup with Nemaha Central to open districts. The game will be featured on 92.1 KMZA with pregame starting at 6:45pm on Friday, October 17th.
