(KLZA)-- Falls City Sacred Heart advanced to the Class D2 football semi-finals with a 62-46 win over 7th ranked Kenesaw Tuesday.

A 24-22 halftime lead went to 10 points when senior, Sawyer Kean returned the opening kickoff of the second half 73 yards for a score.  Kenesaw answered right back on a 43 yard run by quarterback Preston Schnitzler who scored 4 touchdowns during the game and ran for nearly 300 yards on 38 attempts.

A steady north wind that kept wind chills in the single digits most of the game shut down the passing games.  Only one pass was completed during the game.

Five Kenesaw turnovers hurt the Blue Devils chances of beating the 5th ranked Irish at Jug Brown Stadium.

Kean finished the day with 189 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns on 13 attempts.  Quarterback Austin Malone ran 16 times or 178 yards and two scores.  Zavan Kirkendall also scored twice on the ground for the Irish.

Sacred Heart scored 8 touchdowns on the day and made the two point conversion 7 times.

The Irish defense was led by Logan Scheitel, Reggie Johansen, Kirkendall, Kean, Malone and Ben Mullins.

Sacred Heart will be on the road Monday in the semi-finals.
