Latest KWCA Rankings Released -- Dec. 9th & Dec. 11th

Latest KWCA Rankings -- 3-2-1A (released Dec. 9th) & 4A (released Dec. 11th) 

With some action in the books with tournaments and duals the wrestling season in underway in the State of Kansas after the first set of rankings have been released after that first set of action last week. This week 14 area wrestlers and two area teams are in the KWCA rankings in Class 4A and 3-2-1A.

The ACCHS Tigers continue to highlight the Class 3-2-1A wrestling polls from the area as they remained ranked fourth as a team, after winning the Worley/Titlon Tournament in Atchison last Saturday. Sophomore, Hunter Ostertag leads the way in the rankings for the Tigers as he checks in at number one this week at 106lbs, moving up one spot this week. While both Logan Bowen and Willy Dieckmann each remained ranked third at 132lbs and 138lbs, respectively for the Tigers.

Marysville had a strong start to the season on the mats winning the Mission Valley tournament, but the Bulldogs fell out of the Top 10 team rankings this week, but two individual Bulldogs did remain in the rankings. Senior, Josh Nelson remained ranked at second at 170lbs, while junior, Chris Deters checked in at fourth in the rankings again this week at 126lbs.

Troy Trojan, Tristan Speer and Doniphan West Mustang, Garret Dunlap each remained ranked at number one in their weight classes. Speer yet to hit the mats this season, but is the defending State champion, while Dunlap opened the season winning the 160lb weight class at the Mission Valley tournament.

Onaga Buffalo senior, Kyle Ames remained in the rankings at number four at 195lbs after opening the season by winning his weight class at the Lincoln Round Robin Tournament and helping lead the Buffaloes to the Tournament team title. While, Sabetha Bluejay senior, Jacob Leuthold moved up to fourth at 285lbs this week after opening the season for the Bluejays after opening the season at home in a Dual and competing in the Riley County tournament.

In Class 4A the Holton Wildcats are at number three this week as a team after going 4-1 in their opening competition of the season at the Spring Hill Duals. Senior, Lucas Lovvorn continues to lead the Wildcats in the rankings remaining at number one this week at 160lbs, after going 5-0 at the Spring Hill Duals. Mason Baum also went 5-0 at the Spring Hills for Holton and remains ranked second at 170lbs, while Justin Rieschick also ranks second at 145lbs going 4-0 at the Spring Hills Duals. Justin Pool moved up to third in the 132lbs rankings for the Wildcats up three spots.

Royal Valley junior, Matthew Bailey is the only other area grappler in the rankings in Class 4A and he moved up one spot to fourth this week.

Many teams hit the mats again on Thursday for Duals, while also getting ready to compete in more tournament action on Saturday.
