By Jonny Kane

The Jefferson County North Chargers and the Horton Chargers met on the court in Winchester on Friday night and when the night was over Jefferson County North earned a sweep.

The Jefferson County North Lady Chargers got off to a hot start in the first quarter taking a 19-8 lead after the end of one. Horton came out strong in the third quarter and held JCN to just one point in the quarter to pull them within three heading into the final frame 33-30. After Horton pulled within three, the Lady Chargers went on another one their runs that they come accustomed to so far this season, as they went on to win by a final of 45-40. Once again for the Lady Chargers their run was keyed by senior Briana Page who finished with 16 points and sophomore Jentry Seichepine who chipped in 10 as they move to 3-0 on the season. Horton was able to stay close off the play of junior Chelsey Trautloff who poured in 15 points off the bench after losing starter Katie Cambell to an injury in the first half.

BOYS: JCN 64, Horton 50

The boys matchup featured a battle of the big men early as junior Alec Cowley got Horton off to a good start scoring six points in the opening frame giving them a 14-12 lead after the end of one. Cowley picked up his second foul early in second quarter as was forced to go to the bench for the rest of the half and this is where JCN made their run. Jefferson County North came out even stronger in the third quarter as they increased their lead to eight heading into the fourth. Horton had a strong final frame but JCN had a better one putting up 18 points in the quarter to come away with a 64-50 win.
