Royal Valley Wrestlers Splits Duals Against Silver Lake & Washburn Rural

The wrestling season continued on Wednesday night for the Royal Valley Panthers as they squared off with grapplers from Washburn Rural and Silver Lake in a Double Dual.

The Panthers on the night registered 12 individual wins, finishing with a 12-15 record on the night between the two duals on the night. As a team Royal Valley posted a 1-1 record on the evening, notching the 37-31 dual win over the host Silver Lake, while falling 54-24 to Washburn Rural. With the 1-1 night in the duals, Royal Valley moved to 6-6 on the season as a team in duals.

A trio of Panther grapplers finished with a 2-0 night as Zach Lux (132lbs), Matthew Bailey (182lbs) and Jacob Box (195lbs) all improved their season records with a pair of wins on the mat. Bailey improved to 6-1 on the mats this year for Royal Valley, while Box moved to 13-9 and Lux improved to .500 at 8-8.

Six other guys picked up a win on the mats posting 1-1 records on the night of competition, with perhaps Noah Hart (145lbs) leading the charge. Hart improved his record to 19-3 on the season with his 1-1 night, picking up a win via pinfall, while only taking a loss by one-point against a Silver Lake grappler who is the defending 3-2-1A State Champ at 145lbs. Tim Martin Jr. (120lbs), Lance Bailey (126lbs), Jerry Coan (138lbs), Blake Garrison (220lbs) and Charles Todd (285lbs) all also posted 1-1 nights on the mats for Royal Valley.

Royal Valley continues the wrestling season this Friday as they are set compete in the Bobcat Classic at Basehor-Linwood.
