Sabetha Splits Duals While Falls City Goes 0-2 at Tigers Double Dual

The Falls City Tigers welcomed in the Sabetha Bluejays and also the wrestlers from Maryville, MO on Wednesday night for a Double Dual on the mats.

At the end of the night it was Maryville coming away with a 2-0 night topping Sabetha 36-31, while beating Falls City 45-29. Sabetha won the matchup against Falls City, claiming the 40-30 dual victory.

Highlighting the night for Sabetha was Brandon Poe at 170lbs who posted a 2-0 night for the Bluejays picking up a pinfall win in 1:51 against a Maryville wrestler, while winning his bout against a Falls City grappler via technical fall (16-0). Seven other Bluejays registered one win on the night between the two duals at Falls City. Nate Niehues (138lbs), Kaid Allen (182lbs), Seth Harrell (113lbs) and Brandon Brownlee (120lbs) each won their lone match they competed in on the night, picking wins via a pin (5:10), pin (2:58), decision (7-3) and technical fall (15-0), respectively. The trio of Matt Burdick (145lbs), Kyler Krebs (152lbs) and Austin Garber (160lbs) all went 1-1 in competition on the mats for Sabetha. Burdick picked up his win against Maryville via a 10-0 major decision, while Krebs and Garber each won against Falls City both winning by pinfall in 1:01 and 1:07.

For the Falls City Tigers a 2-0 night by Brett Black (145lbs) and Brandon Banks (195lbs) highlighted the evening each picking up a pair of wins. Black earned a pinfall win over Sabetha (3:05), while winning via technical fall (15-0) against Maryville. Banks registered a pair of pinfall wins on the night in 1:32 versus Sabetha and 2:00 versus Maryville. Brody Smith (126lbs), Carter Hunzeker (170lbs) and Issac Hogue (220lbs) all each earned wins as well for Falls City on the night. Both Smith and Hunzeker went 1-1 on the night as Smith won via pinfall in four seconds against Sabetha, while Hunzeker won in 2:43 via pin against Maryville. For Hogue he picked up a win by pin (3:24) against Maryville.

Sabetha and Falls City will both continue the wrestling season on Saturday at the Jayhusker Invitational in Marysville, Kansas.
