All-Twin Valley League Basketball Honors Awarded

It was another great year in the Twin Valley League as six teams competed at State with four finishing with Top four finishes in 2A, 1A-DI and 1A-DII.

The Hanover Wildcat boys enjoyed the best year in the TVL claiming the TVL regular season (12-0) and tournament titles and winning the 1A-DI State title, by beating fellow TVL team in Doniphan West, finishing the year 25-1. Three Wildcats earned first team All-TVL as sophomore, Will Bruna and seniors, Hunter Nicholson and Austin Diederich all got the nod. Senior, Andrew Bruna earned second team All-TVL for the Wildcats.

Washington County Tigers finished second in the league and took fourth in Class 2A at State finishing 21-5, with three of their five losses to Hanover. A trio of Tigers earned All-TVL honors as juniors, Kyle McGatlin and Konnor Penning both were named first team and junior, Cole Thompson got the second team nod. The Troy Trojans took home third place in the League finishing the year 19-5 and had both Collin Jasper and Nathan Gaarder a pair of senior's earn first team All-TVL.

Centralia Panthers finished fourth in the TVL going 16-7 on the year and had both senior, Joey Ferron and junior, Braden Deters earn second team All-TVL honors.

The rest of the League standings finished with Valley Heights in fifth, Doniphan West sixth, Onaga took seventh, Axtell placed eighth, Frankfort ninth, Wetmore 10th and Linn, Clifton-Clyde and Blue Valley finished out the standings in 11th, 12th and 13th place, respectively.

Valley Heights’ seniors, Elijah Smith and Gage Woodyard each earned first team All-TVL, while Doniphan West Mustang junior, Cooper Leach and senior, Jeffrey Watts both got the first team nod, also. Onaga Buffalos had senior, Jarod Gronewoller earn first team honors, with fellow senior, Wyatt Cordell getting second team. While, Frankfort senior, Jacob Studer, Wetmore senior, Jeremy Hoelscher and Linn senior, Chad Gross all earned All-TVL second team honors.

Just like in the boys standings the girl’s regular season champion was unbeaten in League play as the Washington County lady Tigers finished the season 21-2 and 12-0 in TVL regular season action to win the regular season title. The senior duo of Erin Alexander and Courtney Moore both earned first team All-TVL honors for the Tigers.

The Axtell lady Eagles finished second in the TVL standings finishing 19-4 on the year and had the junior tandem of Courtney Heinen and Kiersten Talbot both earn first team All-TVL. While, Valley Heights who finished third in the League standings finished 16-7 on the year and had both senior, Sidney Blackburn and junior, Brandi Jo Roepke earned first team All-TVL, while freshman, Kayla Smith earned second team.

Centralia lady Panthers finished fourth in the League but won the TVL tournament title and finished runner-up at State in 1A-DI this year finishing the season 21-5. The senior duo of Liz Hasenkamp and Amaris Jones both earned first team All-TVL, while sophomore, Cassidy Haufler registered second team honors.

The rest of the League standings finished with Linn fifth, Hanover taking sixth, Wetmore placing seventh, Doniphan West eighth, Troy placed ninth, while Frankfort, Blue Valley and Clifton-Clyde all tied for 10th and Onaga finished 13th.

Linn senior, Nicole Ohlde earned first team All-TVL honors and her senior teammate, Kesiah Thalmann earned second team honors. While Hanover Wildcat junior, Paige Doebele and sophomore, Riley Doebele both earned second team All-TVL. The Wetmore Cardinals who made State in 1A-DII had sophomore, Dakota McQueen earn first team All-TVL, while junior, Gerare Haverkamp registered second team honors. Doniphan West senior, Regan Gibson got the nod for second team All-TVL honors, while Troy senior, Breanna Smith also earned second team. Frankfort junior, Abra Shirley and Blue Valley sophomore, Megan Plummer both also earned second team All-TVL.
