Sterling Boys and Pawnee City Girls Win Pioneer Conf. Track Titles

On a day that went from cool and rainy to warm and windy the Sterling Boys and Pawnee City Girls were crowned the team champions of the Pioneer Conference Track meet held in Auburn Saturday.  

The Sterling Boys had 93 points, Sacred Heart was second with 89, Diller-Odell third with 86, Pawnee City fourth with 61.5 and HTRS was fifth with 48.5 in the 10-tam field. 

The Pawnee City Girls scored 149.5 points on their way to the title. Lourdes Central Catholic was second with 97, Friend was third with 72, HTRS placed fourth with 59 and Sacred Heart was fifth with 51.5.

Individual event winners included:

Boys 

Sterling 

4 x 800 meter relay

Sacred Heart 

Henry Arnold – 200 meters and 400 meters;

4 x 100 meter relay – Austin Malone; Henry Arnold; Keith Salimo; Christian Harring;

4 x 400 meter relay – Austin Malone, Keith Salimo, William Morehead, Henry Arnold.

Austin Malone – long jump;  triple jump; 

Bryant Jorn – shot put,

Lourdes Central Catholic 

Nick Whitten 100 meters;

Pawnee City

Alex Menninga – 1600 meters and 3200 meters;

Clayton Branek – discuss 

Southern 

Jalem Fields – 800 meters;
