Onaga and Washington County represented the Twin Valley League and Northeast Kansas at the Class 2A State boys golf competition at Emporia on Tuesday after qualifying golfers at Regionals.
For the Onaga Buffalos they field a team at State after a third place team finish at Regionals, this time around the Buffalos posted a team score of 416 to finish 12th out of the 12 teams competing in Class 2A. Lucas Helget had the best individual area performance at State finishing 26th out of 86 competitors by carding a round of 85. Jace Fischer, Ben Kufahl and Trenton Ross finished out the Buffalos four-man team score with rounds of 101, 114 and 116 finishing 67th, 79th and 82nd, respectively. While, James Johnson also competed for Onaga posting a round of 117 to place 83rd.
Hunter Johnson of Washington County was the lone other area golfer teeing it up for the State boys golf competition in Class 2A and behind a round of 99 placed 64th at State.
