Falls City Sacred Heart Coach Leading Shrine Bowl Team

(KLZA)-- Falls City Sacred Heart Football Coach Doug Goltz is busy this week serving as Head Coach of the South Squad for the 57th Annual Shrine Bowl of Nebraska. The game will be played in Kearney on Saturday at 2 p-m. 

Goltz served as an assistant coach in the 1997 Shrine Bowl Game.  After 28 years as Head Coach of Sacred Heart he has a career record of 266 – 46 which equates winning better than 85-eprcent of the games he has coached. The Irish have won seven state championships along the way. 

Goltz is the third Shrine Bowl Head Coach who coaches 8-Man football, joining Gary DeBoer of Lawrence-Nelson and Mike Spiers from Howells.  

Serving as one of five assistants for the South team this year is Ryan Gottula, Head Coach at Lincoln Southeast and a Table Rock High School graduate. 

The highlight of the Shrine Bowl Experience is today for the South Team. The squad is visiting the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago today.  

The Shrine Bowl games helps raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children. 

The game will be televised on ETV Saturday afternoon.
