Eight Area Teams in KVA Volleyball Rankings after Week Five

After week five action not much has changed in the Kansas Volleyball Association rankings for the eight area teams in the rankings this week as they remain in the rankings and most of them in the same spot of only one spot different than the previous week. 

Leading the charge again this week in the rankings is the Twin Valley League with four teams in the rankings including a pair of teams ranked second in their respective classifications. 

The Axtell Eagles sit at the number two spot again this week in Class 1A-Division II as the Eagles are 22-7 on the season and finished out their TVL play with an 11-1 record as they topped Doniphan West and Onaga on Tuesday night each in straight sets. 

Also at number two in the rankings is the Centralia Panthers as they remain ranked second in Class 1A-Division I, as they been at that spot at the whole season. Centralia is 29-1 on the season and 10-1 in the TVL, picking up their latest wins against Clifton-Clyde and Troy on Tuesday. The Hanover Wildcats remain in the 1A-DI rankings this week but move down one spot to seventh and are 19-6 on the season after going 2-1 on Tuesday with wins over Blue Valley and Wetmore, and a loss to Linn. Out of the Northeast Kansas League the Immaculata Raiders continue to be ranked in Class 1A-DI as they check in again at ninth in the polls and are 16-10 on the season after splitting with Oskaloosa (win) and Jefferson County North (loss) on Tuesday and falling to West Platte and North Platte in non-league action on Monday.

Both the Valley Falls Dragons and Washington County Tigers continue to be ranked in Class 2A but each take a step back in the polls as the Dragons are ranked sixth this week and the Tigers seventh. After a 2-0 night on Tuesday with wins over Pleasant Ridge and Jackson Heights, Valley Falls is 26-3 on the season and remain unbeaten in NEKL play at 12-0. Washington County split their contests on Tuesday night falling to Frankfort, but beating Valley Heights to improve to 16-6 on the season. 

Nemaha Central continues to be the only area team in the Class 3A rankings as the Thunder are 20-5 on the season after a pair of wins over Hiawatha on Tuesday and are 13-1 in Big Seven action. The Thunder remains ranked eighth in the 3A polls this week. 

The Holton Wildcats fell to tenth in the polls last week in Class 4A-DII and remain ranked tenth this week as the Wildcats are 21-10 on the season after sweeping Royal Valley on Tuesday night. 

Only a few weeks remain of the regular season for volleyball action and then Sub-State commences on October 24th.
