Jackson Heights 47, Valley Falls 16

Jackson Heights opened 2-1A District action on the road Friday night after a bye week, but looked in playoff form in whipping Valley Falls 47-16.,  The Cobras jumped to a 33-0 lead in the first 18 minutes of the game and pilled up 494 yards of total offense while improving to 4-1 on the season.  Valley Falls threw four interceptions and mustered only one first down and 63 yards in the first half before falling to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in district play.

After the opening kickoff went out of bounds, Jackson Heights marched 60 yards in 6 plays and Brady Holliday scored on a two yard run.  Wyatt Olbering added a three yard score in the first quarter, before Mason Hamilton and Mason Thomas scored on short runs in the second period and Olberding returned to the endzone from 16 yards out to make it 33-0.  Valley Falls got 43 of their 63 total first half yards on a screen pass from Chris Yates to Jarett Wildeman with 1:39 left until halftime to make it 33-8.  Mason Thomas had the only score in the third period and Sebastian Butto scored the final time for Jackson Heights on a three yard carry.  Valley Falls got their second half score on a 44 yard pass from Yates to Wildeman, but the Dragons, who tossed a pair of INT's in the first half, threw two more picks to open the third quarter and struggled to move the football.  Wildeman finished with 122 yards on 6 catches, but Valley Falls had only 42 total yards rushing, as Yates took over for injured senior quarterback, Marty Gatzemeyer.

Jackson Heights got 124 rushing yards from Thomas, 93 by Hamilton, 75 from Holliday and 72 yards on just 6 carries for Olberding.  Zane Richter was the Citizens State Bank and Trust of Hiawatha "Player to Bank On" with three defensive interceptions and several tackles while also catching two passes for 61 yards.  With four of five senior lineman, led by Denison State Bank "Lineman of the Game," Wyatt Roles, the Cobras dominated the trenches on both sides of the football.
