It was a good mixture of new competition on the season for all the teams involved in the Riverside volleyball Invitational on Saturday and the Jefferson County North Chargers charged past the competition to win the tournament crown. 

The action started on the day with pool play as JCN was in pool "A" with host, Riverside, McLouth and Mound City. The Chargers finished pool play with a 3-0 mark picking up straight set wins over all three teams, while Mound City earned second place in the pool with wins over Riverside and McLouth each in straight sets. Riverside notched one win on the day beating McLouth in straight sets in pool play. 

In pool "B" there were only three teams in Troy, North Platte and St. Joseph Christian so the three squads played double round robin style to decide who would move on into the Semifinals. Troy put together a 3-1 performance in the four pool play contests beating St. Joseph Christian twice both in straight sets and splitting with North Platte falling in straight sets, but winning the other match in three sets. North Platte also finished 3-1 in the pool. 

Moving into the Semifinals Troy took on JCN and North Platte squared off with Mound City and each match ended in straight sets as JCN and North Platte earned win. Troy and Mound City meet up for third place and in a highly contested three set affair Mound City earned third place. 

The Championship contest was only the third match of the day to go three sets and it proved to be exciting with JCN battling back after losing set one to win the final two sets to earn the Riverside Invitational title over North Platte.
