Falls City and Atchison Split Doubleheader

(KTNC)-- The Falls City Tigers and Atchison Redmen split a girl-boy doubleheader in basketball in Atchison Tuesday night.

In the girls game Atchision fought back from a 10-point deficit early in the third quarter to take a 30-29 lead wiht 1:23 to go in the period. Sophomre Dezman Duncan socred 7 of her game-high 13 points in the period to lead the comeback.

Falls City junior Alyssa Frederick scored 5 of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to help Falls City get the victory 40-38.

Molly Brown scored 12 points to lead Falls City. Frederick had a double-double in the game for Falls Ctiy and Libby Bauman chipped in 7 points.

Shantel Johnson scored 10 points for Atchison. The Atchsion girls struggled at the free thrwo line goind just 4 -15 in the game.  

Falls City is now 2-0 on the season, Atchison is 0-2.

In the boys game Atchison jumped on Falls City early leading 15-5 after one quarter and extended the lead to 21 at halftime.  The Redman defense kept the Tigers out of the paint during most of the game.

Wykeem Gill, Jr. led Atchison with 18 points and 8 assists in the contest.  Cole Bateman added 15 and Tyler DeSilva scored 11.

Brandt Chapple led Falls City with 15 points. Kyle Leafty scored 9 points and had 8 rebounds for the Tigers.  Falls Cit was 0-10 from beyond the 3-point line in the game.  

Atchison is 1-0, Falls City drops to 0-2.
