The Valley Falls Lady Dragons entered Friday night’s game with Oskaloosa riding high with a 2-0 start to the season and both wins by 10 points or more.
Their strong play continued as they took down the Lady bears in a 61-23 rout in Oskaloosa.
The Lady Dragons jumped out on top early building a 19-4 lead after one quarter of play before putting up 20 points in the second to lead 39-9 at the break.
The third was the most competitive quarter of the game with Valley Falls winning the quarter 13-12, but by then the damage had already been done.
Sophomore Rachel Frakes led the Lady Dragons (3-0) in scoring for the second straight game with 16 points, while senior Ali Brown dropped in 12. Oskaloosa (0-3) was paced by senior Haidyn Bassett’s 10 points.
The win sets up a matchup of undefeated teams next Tuesday as the Lady Dragons host Maur Hill Mount Academy (3-0).

Valley Falls senior Marty Gatzemeyer opened up the 2015-16 season with games of 28 and 33 points to lead the Dragons to a 1-1 start.
On Friday night, Gatzemeyer scored 15 to lead Valley Falls to a 44-28 win over the Bears.
Both teams started slow with the Dragons working out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter. Those struggles continued into the second frame as neither team reached double figures to leave Valley Falls in front at the break 19-10.
The third quarter was all Valley Falls as the Dragons exploded for 16 points, while holding the Bears (1-2) to just eight to take the commanding lead.
Gatzemeyer led Valley Falls (2-1) with his 15 points, while Zac Allen was the only other Dragon in double figures with 10.
Valley Falls hosts MH-MA (2-1) on Tuesday, while Oskaloosa travels to McLouth (0-3).
