Royal Valley Panthers Wrestling Takes Seventh at Anderson County Invitational

The Royal Valley Panthers hit the mats again on Saturday and took on some top flight competition at the Anderson County wrestling Invitational coming home with a seventh place team finish of the 15 schools competing on the day, just 11 points out of a top five finish. 

Eight Panther grapplers competed on the day and all eight finished eighth or better in their weight classes with Jacob Box leading the charge for Royal Valley by winning his weight class of 182lbs. Box finished the day 5-0 and won his first four bouts all by pinfall win 49 seconds, 3:31, 1:35 and 45 seconds and then finished off the day with an 8-4 decision win against an Independence wrestler to win the 182lbs weight class.

Noah Hart grabbed the silver at 152lbs going 3-1 on the mats with two pinfall wins in 1:32 and 3:04 and also a 9-3 decision victory, while falling by a 9-4 decision in the first place match to a grappler from Frontenac. 

A fourth place, a fifth place, two sixth places, a seventh and eighth place were all earned by Panthers on the day, too. Behind a 2-3 record on the day Blake Garrison snagged a fourth place finish at 195lbs, while Lance Bailey earned fifth place at 126lbs with a 3-2 day on the mats. Both Brian Shane and Keesis Potts each finished sixth at 220lbs and 285lbs, respectively going 2-3 and 1-4 records. Ethan Ashley posted a 2-3 record on the day at 120lbs and finished seventh, while Karsen Smith took eighth at 160lbs going 1-4 on the mats on Saturday. 

The season continues for the Panthers next Saturday, December 19th as they will compete at the Pleasant Ridge Invitational.
