KBCA High School Basketball Rankings Dec. 14th - 13 Area Teams Ranked

With over a full week of action in the books in the basketball season and each team having played at least a couple of games the KBCA has released its latest set of high school basketball rankings for all classes in Kansas. Thirteen northeast Kansas area team find themselves in the rankings this week. 

Six Twin Valley League teams remain in the Class 1A Division I and II rankings this week. The Axtell lady Eagles are the only are team ranked in Class 1A-DII as they move down two spots to tenth in the polls this week after losing a tough road game at Centralia and beating Linn and Bishop Seabury at home to move to 4-2 on the season. 

In 1A-DI both the Centralia lady Panthers and lady Wildcats of Hanover remain in the rankings and both stay put at fourth and eighth, respectively in the poll. Centralia moved to 3-1 on the season with a 2-0 week last week beating Axtell and Wetmore at home, while Hanover moved to 2-1 on the season after falling to Washington County and beating Troy last week. 

On the boys side of the 1A-DI polls three TVL teams are remain in the rankings and all at the same spot in the polls this week with Hanover ranked first, Doniphan West third and Centralia sixth. Hanover remained ranked first despite an 0-2 week falling to a ranked Washington County team by 10 points and also losing to Troy at home to move to 1-2 on the year. Doniphan West who remains ranked third is 3-0 on the season after holding off Frankfort last Friday night to remain unbeaten. While the Centralia Panthers remained unbeaten on the season after a close win against Axtell and another win over Wetmore last week to move to 4-0 on the season. 

Four area teams remain in the rankings this week in Class 2A as both the boys and girls Washington County teams who are each 4-0 are yet again in the rankings. The lady Tigers topped Hanover, Wakefield and Smith Center all by 10 points or more and move up four spots to fifth in the polls this week, while the boys are up one spot to fourth after beating Hanover, Wakefield and Rock Hills last week. The Jackson Heights Cobra boys also remain in the 2A rankings this week up two spots to seventh after a 2-0 start to the year which includes a win over Maur Hill this past week. The highest ranked area team in 2A is the lady Dragons of Valley Falls who moved up one spot to second in the polls this week after beating Pleasant Ridge and Oskaloosa last week to improve to 3-0. 

Class 3A rankings house three area teams in the rankings this week all from the Big Seven League. The Sabetha Bluejays girls moved up two spots to second in the rankings after beating Marysville and Jeff West last week to improve to 3-0, while the Sabetha boys remain ranked third in 3A after a 3-0 start also beating Marysville and Jeff West last week. While the Nemaha Central girls both jumped into the rankings this week as the lady Thunder off to a 3-0 start after beating Wamego and Jeff West last week are ranked eighth this week. 

Teams gear up for a few more games before the holiday break as the basketball season continues to roll along this week.
